Crew Leader Internship

Phillies Bridge Farm Project is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organized Crew Leader to help lead, teach, and inspire the rest of the interns. The Crew leader will have the exceptional people skills necessary to translate priorities, objectives, and specific tasks between the farm manager and the rest of the crew. This person will either have experience motivating a diverse crew doing hard physical labor or will have extensive experience doing farm work. Candidates from both farm work and crew leading experience will be given priority.

The Crew Leader's responsibilities include:

• Weekly meeting with Farm Manager to establish farm tasks and priorities for the week;
• Organizing weekly meetings with interns to facilitate work schedule;
• Managing a crew of anywhere from 1 to 4 interns (depending on the time of year) in field tasks when Farm Manager is called to other duties;
• Assisting in developing and teaching farm-related curriculum for Phillies Bridge Farm Project interns;
• Participation in carrying out field tasks;
• Assisting with guiding harvest;
• Assisting with CSA distribution; and
• Participation in tractor work.

Commitment:

• Employment Start Date: March 15th 2010
• Employment End Date: November 12th 2010.
• 5 1/2 day work weeks, working Monday through Friday and a half day on Saturdays. 50 hour work weeks.
• The Crew Leader position is an advanced internship position. The Crew Leader will not be considered full time farm staff.

Compensation:

• $800 monthly stipend
• Residence in the cottage on Phillies Bridge Farm Project property. The cottage is a fully furnished free-standing residence with a full kitchen and bathroom.
• Access to produce and eggs from the farm

• Participation in select visits with Western Massachusetts CRAFT program
